They must have cancelled each other out yesterday. However, Tottenham looks more this season to be the real contenders to replace one of the big four.Their attacking prowess and mid-field industry means we would be seeing much more goals from them.
Villa on the other hand almost displaced Arsenal last season but for a dip in form and a string of consistent poor result.Take that away and it was Villa all the way.
The race for the fourth position (so to say) this season will be more dramatic.Liverpool is expected to mount a serious challenge and get themselves back into contention.Villa on the other hand have beaten Liverpool away and have an opportunity to do a double over them this season.Tottenham still have to visit Anfield and try to match the victory snatched by Villa there.
Which ever way it goes, every match for these teams would become increasingly important just like matches that involve the traditional big "three".Afterall this is a race for the champions league qualifying play-off position.
Whom do you think would make it into the top four this season? Villa or Tottenham?

EL CLASICO! Its Barca vs Madrid. Who Wins?
What better way to enjoy the coming weekend than to savour the 90minutes of passion, excitement and soccer artistry that would be on display at the Nou Camp.
The feat of Barcelona last season cannot be forgotten in a hurry. The ripple effect at Real Madrid this season won't go unnoticed either.
The Core of the treble winning Barca side is intact. Eto was sold but Ibrahimovic's addittion bring a whole new attacking dimension to Barca. For Madrid, Kaka, Ronaldo and Benzema are Massive players that have all it takes to expose the Barca defence.
Will Lionel Messi be Merciless once again as he was against Madrid at the Bernabeau last season or are we about to see the emergence of the New Attacking Trinity of Club football?
Simply post your comment and lets know why you believe Barca would Inflict a heavy defeat on Madrid or Madrid's new attacking trio would rip apart the Barca defence with quality goals.

Arsenal vs Chelsea
What a match this promises to be. A truly London classic for many reasons. Chelsea suddenly look like a team capable of anything; double, treble, etc. These group of players have been together for quite a while and they have formed a unique partnership on the field of play such that when it reasonates, teams are blown away.
Drogba is in top form and even if he isnt, Anelka has shown that he is getting better and peaking as a Striker. The New Diamond formation has given Chelsea a good balance.
Arsenal on the other hand are in superb form this season. While pundits would easily point at past seasons where Arsenal have shown like Stars only to fall out when it matters most, we must not forget that the Team has grown and would deliver much more than they did previous seasons. A good example to this is Alexander Song who definitely looks like a New Buy this Season. Denilson and even Fabregas have all Upped their game.
So what makes sundays game different from Chelseas last visit to the Emirates which ended 4-1 in favour of Chelsea? Are we likely to see a repeat of last seasons result or would there be a reversal in fortune for Arsenal against their Irrepresible London rivals?
One player makes this fixture very interesting and a must watch. Andrey Arshavin! He hasnt played against Chelsea since his move to the Emirates. He is a player for Big occasion. While Arsenal have beaten Chelsea in the past (|post Henry era), no player has given the Chelsea defence a lot to worry about. Arshavin certainly will. I tip him to score on sunday.
I believe Arsenal would be Up for this. Arshavin and Vermalen would prove to be the difference between Arsenal side this season and the previous.
I predict Arsenal to win this match 2-1. However, if Arsenal plays all the beautiful football but don't take their chances like they almost did against Standard Liege, then Emirates faithful should be prepared for an upset.
Arsenals pace would worry Chelsea's backline and with a bit more accuracy in front of goal, it would be a Comprehensive victory for the Gunners.
Who shares a contrary view and opinion?Say it right here.

Guss Hiddink to Coach Nigeria?
With the failure of Russia to qualify for the World Cup in South Africa next year, this leaves Guss Hiddink open to Offers.Infact like his Agent puts it,He is a wanted man.Should Nigeria go for Hiddink? What will attract Hiddink to coach a Country like Nigeria?Do we have the players that suits his style of play?
A brief look at Hiddink's previous stints at the World Cup shows that He works with players who have high work ethic. That could be seen in the Holland team he managed at France 98, Korea in 2002 and Australia in 2006.
Does Nigeria currently possess players of such calibre?Who on our right wing has the pace and work ethic like Finidi George or Amuneke on the Left or Amokachi, Oliseh, to mention a few.For any Coach to succeed in Nigeria, He must be given time.Time to fail and time to succeed.A good example is Greece who won Euro 2004 but failed to qualify for 2006 World Cup.Greece didnt sack Otto Rehagel, instead He was kept and despite the failure of Euro 2008,he was still saddled with the responsibility of seeing Greece through to the World Cup.Greece would be a Dark Horse in South Africa Next Year.
Someone might argue and ask why can't Amodu be given more time? The answer is He doesnt yet have the pedigree to command respect from our football administrative system, personnel and the Players too.Without going too far,the era of Steve McClaren and Fabio Capello says it all.
ONLY the Hiddinks,Terim et al can bring back the Glory days of Nigerian football with time! Our own Keshi is not far away.
What Say You?
